one reason we don't have as much great music/art/cinema these days is that being a celebrity totally sucks ass. incentives dwindling toward zero.

celebrity was ruined with the rise of reality tv -> influencer culture cut it all down and start new

reality tv definitely played a part. back in the day Zsa Zsa Gabor was lampooned as being famous for being famous, ie having no talent other than presentation and association with celebrity. then it became the norm.

that’s precisely it, when you could point at a celebrity and a majority of people could recognize the talent said celebrity was celebrated for, it was all transparent, and true, and made sense when someone like honeybooboo is being forced onto everyone as a celebrity, it starts to break the logic and rot the culture, and we’re just living in madness now where words mean nothing anymore

I would argue speed may be culprit, any C rated content creator can now record and publish ready to consume whereas masterpieces take time.

yes and no. you're right a lot of stuff is half baked but The Beatles made like 10 incredible albums in 6 years. less distraction

I don't know if that's a fair comparison 0x. I mean come on, 2160 days, that's 1 song every 18 days. Streamers publish entertainment today on the daily.

I agree though, restraint and discipline is key. I'm not arguing agains that but will people really though? If not, why can't they - what's stopping them from spazzing out every other minute of the day?
