It is surprisingly hard to imagine just how much the future is being imagined into material reality as we speak -- more than you think 

And, more than I think as well

i think it used to be easier to imagine that
and it's a cultural problem that we can't get behind that

i vividly remember being excited about the future when i was a kid. about how things would be different and more cool. 

but no one has that feeling anymore
