Yeah it also seemed like they totally ignored the fact that Friedberg kept talking like these new whiz bang things are safe, and that scientists are NEVER WRONG and what’s the problem with people not wanting experimental untested new technology in their communities? When have scientists ever been correct on this. There are ALWAYS follow on effects. He’s ignoring them irresponsibly.

I'm actually on the friedberg side. it's not a scientist thing even. it's engineering. 1950s cars aren't the same as today's cars. idk why the reactors would be.

Not being the same, sure. 100% totally safe as if it’s ludicrous to assume there’s world ending danger in the things, no Also the airport example isn’t a good one - an airport, by itself, sitting on the outskirts itself is not a danger. People can go put themselves in danger by boarding a plane An SMR or whatever still has zero studies on what it does to the ground, air, water, life, trees, bees, etc
