One of the best points of feedback is soreness When people think of being sore they think of “ow, I must have worked really hard yesterday - what can I do to make this pain go away?” But being able to UNDERSTAND your soreness will unlock new levels to your training Being sore (DOMS) is the result of muscle being worked past its capability. In either force production, strength, endurance, or a mix of all: if you do too much you will be sore It’s counterproductive for athletes to be sore from in-season workouts, so we lower reps and increase force production through speed, keeping resistance and volume lower And if you’re sore in places that you shouldn’t be (ie lower back after leg day) that’s essentially saying your technique is inefficient (bad) When you get to a point when you can productively train hard enough to be sore but but sore enough to influence the next training session - THEN you’ll see incredible progress
