you're more bearish now than at $10 BTC? I've been here since November 2013 and love it more than ever

$10 btc (2012) was pre gox, industry hadn't even seen a single fraud yet im not leaving yet but ive thought about it, the vibes are in shambles and public opinion is somewhere between "self mutilation" and "adolf hitler". made a lot of great friends, but met 10x more dickheads. there are some very few wins that i love a lot (defi, stables, ENS) but any honest accounting of it has to acknowledge that for every tiny win, there's been a dozen meteoric turds, we've very possibly caused more harm than good at this point. you really wanna try to ostracize anyone questioning it? you gonna pretend there hasn't been widespread Badness that at least rivals any Goodness we've accomplished? that's your prerogative, king, but that kind of "love it or GTFO" hopium is one of my chief turnoffs here. we have too much leadership whitewashing the history and gaslighting any dissent. i truly can't imagine a worse signal than a "bulls only, bears unwelcome" purity test in an industry that's supposed to understand markets.

we gonna have opposite opinions because your "wins" are stuff I could care less about defi has meh adoption and is powered by shitcoin casino speculation stablecoins are simping for fiat the thing we're supposed to be replacing ENS is...a naming template for wallet addresses I'm here to replace government money with decentralized money, and we've progressed spectacularly towards that goal since I joined in 2013 the stuff that has failed I expected to fail, I'm not here for "blockchain tech"

OK we actually have a lot more overlap than it might seem - defi i cite as a success case just because it is better UX than using a bank or a moneychanger service, but i also hate the shitcoin casino speculation emphasis stables are for sure not cypherpunk, but at devcon6 i met dozens of south americans who said stables had helped escape local hyperinflation, that's one of blockchain's biggest humanitarian victories imho ENS is a nice disintermediation of DNS-like services, and i hate godaddy and most registrars i agree theres a 4th "win" that you named - we've created a govt-free money that cannot be stopped. that's a huge win! even if i were to "leave the industry", id still keep my same ~50% networth in crypto. but basically 98% of companies arent building anything related to that right now. all the VC money is funding the casino and casino-infra and casino-tracking... it's wearisome dude... the govt-less money core tech hasn't really changed much in 10+ years, except to increase TPS for the casino.
