can't wait to explore the UK someday and when I do Wales will be on the itinerary it's interesting to me how it's so distinct from England even though looking at a map it doesn't make sense why, want to learn the history in-person

Let me know when you visit! Here’s a starter for 10 Before the Romans: lots of tribes across the place, independent groups Ever since, and as states centralised generally, the southeast/London has dominated the rest of the island: best land, closest for trade (see map) Over the centuries, this pushed further and further out, absorbing those independent groups Later, the only independent groups left were those furthest away from the southeast, and the hardest terrain to subdue (see map again). Cornwall has a very independent culture too, but it’s a few centuries ahead in terms of centralisation
