As I recall, frames frenzy was due to ease of minting free stuff, especially the genius like-and-recast-to-mint idea that blew all the records out of the water. Then, the genius one-armed bandit frame that gave out free $degen poured gas on the flames. That success got users' and devs' attention, immediately focusing on monetizable use cases like commerce.
