I just remember cranking out frames & @degentip that week so f'n vividly

tbh the timelines are all fuzzy for me, but yes Frames was a good idea and had people buzzing on their own

my argument is simply that DEGEN was gasoline for the fire and it rarely gets any love for the role it played from the Farcaster elite

As I recall, frames frenzy was due to ease of minting free stuff, especially the genius like-and-recast-to-mint idea that blew all the records out of the water. Then, the genius one-armed bandit frame that gave out free $degen poured gas on the flames.

That success got users' and devs' attention, immediately focusing on monetizable use cases like commerce.
