Today would have been a good day to go to the hot springs (onsen) but I chose to go horseback riding. And instead it snowed. So the horses got to enjoy frolicking on the snowy plains and I got to watch them from the restaurant where I ate horse sashimi instead. Touché mfers. Touché.

Still sad that I couldn’t go horseback riding because of the snow. Dealing with it by eating horse every chance I get. Today was grilled to perfection. 


Anytime you see a little old man with a small stall and a blowtorch, you should definitely stop and buy whatever he is grilling.

Also, have you tried some Basashi? (Horse Sashimi) It's pretty good.
Kumamoto is where it's at.

Absolutely!!! But I really love it grilled. Changes the whole experience!

I have yet to eat cooked Horse Meat yet.
Maybe next trip. Maybe you can try some of our Kangaroo if you're ever down under 😂

That's the spirit! I tell that to my kid... try at least once. If you don't like it after that, then fine.

Kumamoto Beef is good, but their Baniku is probably freshest.
Also, Kumamoto is known for its cleanest water. Hence why TSMC made their factory there.

Ramen in Kumamoto is mostly thick and garlic heavy ramen as the local staple.  I'm sure they do sell Hakata style too though.
If you're going by Fukuoka, make sure you try Shin-Shin Ramen.
It's a Tonkotsu soup awakening experience.

I will try any food once!!! You never know until you try it!!

The Kumamoto beef has been outstanding in general. I love Hakata style ramen too so choosing meals has been rough. Decisions decisions.
