Live the same

Another story about crazy clients on photo shoots. Many tourists came for their honeymoon and had symbolic (sometimes official) wedding ceremonies. Sometimes we did them on Saona Island. The problem was that there were few beaches on the island (most of the island is sharp rocks) and after 9:30 in the morning it became very crowded. So the ceremony had to be done very early, so that we would have the island to ourselves and everything would look beautiful. Usually it was not a problem - only the weather could ruin everything.

I once had to shoot such a wedding. We arrived at the hotel to pick up the couple, and the bride came out upset. She said that she needed help. We went with her to her room with a decorator, and it turned out that her groom was so drunk that he could not even wake up ... It was impossible to change the date, because they were leaving in a few days. The bride asked us to carry him to the bus ...

We couldn’t get him to sober up, so we grabbed a luggage cart and loaded his drunk body onto it. Lifting a completely limp person turned out to be quite the challenge. It was early morning, so luckily, no one besides the reception staff saw us... thank goodness no one called the cops, haha. We somehow managed to drag him onto the bus and headed to Bayahibe (the place where I once had those wild adventures with the tourist junkies). The bride was super embarrassed, but our team managed to calm her down.

The entire 1.5-hour ride to the port, we kept trying to wake him up, but it was hopeless. And that wasn’t great because when the boat hits waves, it can bounce, and even sober people can get injured. I’ve hurt my back twice on such trips—I couldn’t bend or turn my head for days. But the bride insisted that no matter what, we were going through with it.
