why does this dewalt table saw look like a boston dynamics dog?

My wooden wicks come as a default 5' but I need them to be 3.1'. Up until now I've been manually cutting them with garden shears, and it makes my hand sore. So I was thinking a saw might be better, but I have concerns that the edges would be too jagged. What do you think?

I've been into wood work lately and just bought a bunch of tools but haven't cut anything just binge watching and bookmarking safety videos lol

Might suggest a Mitre saw with a jig instead, or get sawstop saw if you have the money!

Sawstop job site is pretty great, been in the process of building out a mobile workbench but want to get a DWS780 and have it flip out of the table.  

Making planters out of cedar fence pickets is pretty hot right now if you want an easy project. I used a table saw with a cross cut sled (rip cut too obviously), circular saw, a 18g brad nailer, and a shit ton of wood glue.
