I hate everything about the way people digitally grieve. Social media was not made for it I cringe to envision, that when I die, if I am lucky enough to be missed, the inevitable post with some shitty ugly pic of me paired with platitudes while randos reply “🙏” and “🕊️” and “RIP”

Mourning selfies, an IG story from the memorial. An obit hosted on a funeral home website that hasn’t been updated since the 1990s with a guestbook where people write nothing. The horrific phenomenon of a “last post” where I’m whining about some bullshit unaware it’s my last words

GoFundMe sent me an email thanking me for my contributions to an individual’s pancreatic cancer fundraiser. She died within months, the disease ate her up. And this email, it was like “Ur so great” No, it’s not great. She’s dead. This is solemn. What are you on?
