You can't keep giving with the expectation that you will get back — look how frustrated you are. No, people are not inclined to repay in kind; it may help you not to look at it as evil but as the self-interest upon which all of modernity is based (see: The Fable of the Bees https://fee.org/articles/the-fable-of-the-bees-tells-the-story-of-society/)

When I share knowledge or help someone, I do it knowing full well I may never have a favor paid back. I have no entitlements. If you find yourself constantly in this position, we need to think of ways you can set boundaries, say NO, set up contracts, or otherwise so that this stops.

do you ever get tired of people taking advantage? my dad always told me “never do anything for free” and “your closest work friend will fuck you for a 1% raise & pat on the back” but i never wanted to believe it. then i joined the workforce. naturally as a rising tide person i went against his advice. naturally i got fucked every single time. from seemingly endless companies using “case studies” in their interview process to utilize my brain & implement my ideas, only to never call me back, to people at work constantly undermining my efforts, blatantly stealing & lying about my work—all usually just to step stone a current role & parlay into a company exit. even when i first joined crypto i did endless work for free, only for those teams or folks to take credit as their own or badmouth me behind my back if it meant personal advancement. but i never thought like that. i always wanted to and still do want to see the best in people. but it gets tiring, no? how do you deal with it?
