I love this fracas because it’s so contra to everything I’ve ever observed as a participant on other nascent social networks Usually people clamor for MORE moderation to keep out group X and grab power Here, people think ANY moderation is antithetical with …decentralization? Crypto values? Refreshing!

um, the majority here want more moderation, to (continue to) keep out group X, and to hold on to early relative status that was probably earned

You think?! All I’ve seen is the opposite. Still, I would be lying if I said I didn’t want it. It’s onerous and annoying to deal with low quality replies. But I also went over to an alt client and also started to fine tune it to the experience I wanted.

I don’t view this as keeping people out per se, more like keeping quality high.

there's a fine line. Internet scale pushes ppl to use heuristic shortcuts, e.g., high FID -> low quality. ML discovers the empirical relationship that most low quality comes from high FIDs. It must get nudged to achieve various other goals. I'd like these choices to be made in full view, if not under my control.
