I think part of the reason it appeals to me at this time in my life is that I did similar “flew in” and moved for a job where I have no friends or family (and oh yeah I’m feeling it) but without the psychological respite of “fly out”

Oh yeah I get the appeal. Take away all the anxieties and stressors of your day to day. Go work somewhere where all the necessities are taken care of. Get paid. Plus remote Australia can be incredibly beautiful. Reality catches up with you though. A lot of FIFO workers end up drinking and gambling their money away.
