It's always been insane to me how much Louisiana still to a degree loves Huey

He was a nutbag. He tore down the governor’s mansion and had a whole new bigger one rebuilt in the image of the White House and said so it was he could get used to it before he actually lived there 😝

He was also way to the left of even Roosevelt, he was a major opponent of the new deal arguing it didn't go far enough to help the workers. He's arguably one of the most worker left wing populist people ever elected to politics imo

He really put the state on his back though, it's insane to think what Louisiana would be like without him

To me this is the only acceptable posture if you are going to be that corrupt. They balance each other out
