I've read almost all of the top 10 here (missing only My Brilliant Friend and Never Let Me Go) I think this list shows the value of a professional critic TBH I am struck by how much recency bias must have influenced these choices. All of these books are new yet they are the best of the CENTURY? I also am continually surprised by how much people like A Gentleman In Moscow. I read it because someone told me it was her favorite book ever and while it was FINE I didn't feel like it lived up to the hype
