One of the more depressing things about her is that she didn’t start investing until she got a man and he told her to. Bleak implications about the inherent motivations of women rly. The older I get the more I realize all the stereotypes are true and I can’t resent them when I don’t fit them, it doesn’t make them untrue

why is this bleak? much bleaker if the man told her *not* to invest. would it kill you to look for the silver lining sometimes

maybe its a class distinction?, (I have no idea about their backgrounds). Working class folk are suspicious of the stock market in general and prefer either saving in hard cash or property.

everyone has different focuses and there is nothing wrong with getting new ideas from others. You say she needed to be told to invest but plenty of people are told to invest not everyone chooses to take action
