One time I saw a tweet from a hiring manager that said they asked to see the email inbox of anyone who claimed to be "organized" or have "high attention to detail" and it scared me into this level of work inbox management, largely automated

Kudos to the hiring manager for making someone "prove it". So many interviewees will mention buzz words or say "yes" to anything asked of them. For example, for cybersecurity, one might force candidate to encrypt their resume and send it in, because if they don't know how to do that, well... they have no business in our business. Same with "ok, debug this code, you have an hour" and code pair with them, answer questions if needed, etc. Since you were "scared into it" do you think what you're doing is also theatre?
