Feels like mixed messaging from Merkle. The vibe is: “We’re not trying to replace Twitter, we’re doing our own thing.” 

But if you’re serious about a social protocol and the values behind it, shouldn’t that be the goal? Replacing corporate networks with a social protocol. Shouldn’t we be actively and overtly attempting to vampire attack and steal users?

We’re fighting well established network effects here. I don’t know why we would expect people to just come to their senses and move over, they need to be encouraged and incentivised. 

Come for the carrot, stay for the lack of stick.
