Hi folks — we built a new product at @coinbase that lets you borrow USDC against Bitcoin, fully onchain and dead simple to use. 

We call this the DeFi mullet. CeFi in the front and DeFi in the back. 

This was a year long project with first principles thinking.

Teller loans are P2P, no price oracle, no margin calls. Up to 30 days. 

(its what ETHlend was before Aave)

We x10 our borrow side since January 2024, however the lending side was much harder to use, but we are about to release a major update to the lending side where anyone can deposit USDC and earn, like traditional DeFi. 

The lender sets the LTV, APY, and loan duration. So there are many legit opps that are 40-60% APY = no gimmick. 

If a borrower defaults then the lender gets all their collateral. But a borrower can not be liquidated due to market price and as long as they repay their loan on time they get 100% of their collateral, similar to how options would work. 

Bottom line = real 40-60% passive APY is coming soon to @base 👀

Teller did $40m last year borrow side only, lending was hard to use, now lending is going to be traditional pools and defaults go to auction 

As a company we have been leaning into @base and ideally would drive the majority of our volume there. Mainnet is brutal for cost.

It’s basically what ETHlend was before they pivoted to variable interest. 

We actually compliment all price oracle markets. Our biggest returning users are people with gigantic longs on Aave or compound, when the market dips they are in the @teller app within 10 mins using their alts to borrow usdc to save their long positions. Then when the market rebounds they repay and reborrow with variable. 

You cannot be liquidated on teller based on price volatility. The only way a borrower can default is if they do not repay their loan on time. Like options kind of. 

We have a widget integration for the borrow side and talking with @defisaver and and few others to hopefully implement
