I think the āHaitians are eating house petsā lie is racist. Idk if itās abstract - we donāt have any evidence it happened, thereās no obvious connection between missing pets & āethnic minority population that lives nearbyā is there ambiguity here Iām missing? This discussion does distract from policy debates. So are we meant to respond to āHaitians are eating house petsā with policy questions? Would love to hear peopleās thoughts

yes, i think a perfectly reasonable and productive reaction would be: "hey, my read is that you're connecting this bad thing [pet eating] with immigration [haitian immigrants]. why don't we talk about immigration policy and dive into our respective views on it instead?" don't know why that's controversial

Yeah itās not controversial to me! I do think repeating a made up story about Haitians eating pets is racist and Iād like to discuss Trump & JD & Harris & Walzās policies instead. But some ppl have reacted defensively about me calling it racism, so we donāt talk policy lol

So the ABC moderators who have every reason to lie and did lie are right or the local community is right. Hmmm. https://x.com/culturewar2020/status/1833167941409345808?s=46

What did they lie about? Do we automatically take everything said at a community meeting as fact now? Also, the photo in that tweet is from Columbus 2 months ago, and there's nothing pointing to the person in the photo being a Haitian immigrant https://www.reddit.com/r/Columbus/comments/1eebh9o/things_you_see_while_driving_in_cbus/
