i think it’s masterful distraction strategy that we’re discussing immigrants in Ohio eating pets as some abstract definition of racism instead of focusing on the *actual* issues caused by an unchecked border (national security and debt, employment, healthcare), and i think we’re all foolish to be falling for it.

I think the ‘Haitians are eating house pets’ lie is racist. Idk if it’s abstract - we don’t have any evidence it happened, there’s no obvious connection between missing pets & “ethnic minority population that lives nearby” is there ambiguity here I’m missing? 

This discussion does distract from policy debates. So are we meant to respond to “Haitians are eating house pets” with policy questions?

Yeah it’s not controversial to me! 

I do think repeating a made up story about Haitians eating pets is racist and I’d like to discuss Trump & JD & Harris & Walz’s policies instead. 

But some ppl have reacted defensively about me calling it racism, so we don’t talk policy lol

yes, i think a perfectly reasonable and productive reaction would be: 

"hey, my read is that you're connecting this bad thing [pet eating] with immigration [haitian immigrants]. why don't we talk about immigration policy and dive into our respective views on it instead?"

masterful plan to make the story up and inject it into the debate? This resurged narrative that "Haitians eat cats" is rooted in a very specific anti-african barbaric sentiment. The border deal was killed as a publicity stunt. WE are not falling for it

Also the person who first spoke on it was a person using the pseudonym was Nathaniel Higgers.

The real question should be if immigration is causing all these actual real world issues then why push obviously manufactured bullshit
