Social networks need a decentralized solution if it involves gating people from access. Coinbase is a bank and notoriously censored and limits transactions. Horrible example to reach for. Neynar is not comparable to Alchemy because Alchemy doesn’t decide when users can and can’t use a service. I just don’t see how Neynar isn’t the same as web2 rails.

if you're responding to this cast trying to argue with me about how I don't work in crypto, then I am not interested in that argument. Neynar does not control anything about who can use a service. Anyone in the world can and has used farcaster without touching Neynar.

Obviously you work in crypto, you’re just not focused on decentralization whatsoever. Neynar decides who can use every app that is built on Farcaster. And if you don’t have a high enough score you can’t use them. That’s just how it is.

- Anyone can build apps on Farcaster without Neynar, hubs are open - Anyone else can build a Neynar-esque service, many have - Score thresholds are decided by individual developers for their individual apps, there are no score thresholds to use Neynar services - different developers already set different score thresholds, most don't set them at all so nothing about anything you've said in the second half is "how it is" w.r.t. to first half "Bezos, you work on AWS but you're not focused on decentralizing the internet at all" "Amazon is a horrible example to reach for" k
