The Moderators’ Trilemma by Alan Rozenshtein: Running a platform with a large and diverse user base; Attempting to use a centralized, top-down content moderation policies; Avoid angering their users. These three goals can’t all be met.

honestly something smells at Bluesky. Isn‘t the entire point of their architecture too that you can exit away from a faulty moderation system? So why is there drama? Because people cannot credibly fork away. It‘s a centralized server. So people have to resort to begging and bickering. FC and Kiwi are better

Imo, I don’t think not having federation now is the issue. They indeed have the code almost ready but withholding it to ship T&S tools first. And some users have plainly expressed they don’t care about federation if it means they can’t deplatform the “Nazi”.

What is said here is: „Either our tribe can enforce our beliefs or nothing.“ And also: „pure freedom of speech is fascism.“ Exactly why I deleted my account. They don‘t get it. A federation would ban those fascists on their instance and move on with their lives. Their code is open anyways, also for nazis

all this wouldn‘t happen if their platform was 100% credible neutral. Or do we see people fight over Ethereum in that way?
