don't assume people on your team have the same context than you. 

spent time discovering how people communicate. play video games or do other high pressure but low risk activities to see what happens and how people communicate when shit hits the fan

if team is from different cultures, codify communication rules. Trust is build up differently across cultures. Acknowledge it and find a way to meet in the middle.
