There’s a hidden cost to making stuff you care about. Maybe that’s why it’s easy to do enterprise b2b stuff - it’s easier to detach. Because when you care, the price you pay is your self. If you don’t care, or see it as a part of a larger thing - all of a sudden there’s a freedom to it. It’s nice - but the underlying cost is always care. Care and attending to it

to make it worse: If you share the emotional burden about the stuff you are doing with others with whom you also get advice about the stuff you are caring, and you end up burning out, they are more likely to end up burning out. context: longitudinal study conducted among teachers. I find this a sad fact. You need support to not burn out, but if the system is completely fucked, you accelerate the burnout of others by seeking support.
