Definitely! There’s still lots of badly misinformed reporting from otherwise good media outlets. For example, decent reporters in NYC misrepresented the risk of tritiated water from the shuttered Indian Point nuclear plant as “radioactive waste dumping into the Hudson.” Obviously that language conjured images of three-eyed fish in The Simpsons. But in reality it’s a tiny amount of a harmless radioisotope, which is in large quantities in our water from trashed red exit signs and shooting star dust than from nuclear plants.

Lol red stop signs? Were we just yeeting those into waterways or is that NY thing? I’m familiar with Indian Point only from things that scaremonger about it, mostly from the “what if” natural disaster type of concern especially post Fukushima. Fukushima is another instance that often puts people off of nuclear, but the knock on effects of that are less clear to me. I have read reporting over the years about the cleanup and containment effort but less about what the impact overall has been.
