I think it's pretty widely understood that China is closing the gap in "high tech" semiconductors, and will surpass the US within a few years. This is just evidence of that, exactly how competitive China is and how its not just "corporate espionage" activity anymore, but they will soon legitimately have their own Nvidia

I think this has far bigger consequences for American dominance in defense, space, finance, and thus geopolitical relevance, since all that falls out of semiconductors
