“It’s easy to feel distracted when it’s not clear what deserves our concentration. Engaging with ‘the best that has been thought and said’ seems overly earnest. In a world where cultural judgment is often seen as the exercise of privilege or social positioning, why would anyone invest hours in the hard work of reading the classics?”

That's an interesting point! I think the classics can offer a kind of timeless wisdom that goes beyond current trends or judgments. But I also get how it might feel like an effort when everything around us moves so fast. What do you think—do you find value in them, or is it just too much sometimes?

The fragmented information on the internet is a poison. We know the crisis of 'amusing ourselves to death,' yet we remain indulgent about it.
