i’ve seen snow only one other time and this was my first time seeing it fall. it was very surreal, maybe confronting? as if i were experiencing live environmental collapse; it’s meant to be the green season https://i.imgur.com/uvoTYrp.jpg

the twisty snow gums are native to the eastern coast of the aus mainland and their bark when wet looks like blood against the snow https://i.imgur.com/AIssEce.jpg

i did three peaks; each summit it snowed but each descent was muddy and lush and green — so much aliveness! especially the mushroom rocks. love a big rock that really carries its weight in the ecosystem https://i.imgur.com/3aoJmJv.jpg

I’m from a coastal city but I’ve always been in the mountains with my family. When most of my friends told me they had never seen snow it seemed surreal to me at the time and something I had to learn. Must be similar to someone that hasn’t seen the sea.
