Agree with everything apart from: ‘However, you can run 100% of your trip off the credit cards if you want.’ Taipei is a surprisingly cash-heavy city!

I mean, it requires avoiding a few places, ie some night market stalls or some hipster coffee shops (I've happened to visit 2 this week that were cash only), or some cash-machine ramen places.
