In my 10 years of DJing I’ve never:
1. Used CDJs
2. DJed off of a flash drive. Computer only.

imo the main benefit of CDJs is the portability of your sets via USB

other than that, a controller / laptop can move the crowd just the same. most sets just come down to loops, tempo shift, beat jumping, and cue points

I would agree with this. I have had fun playing live sets/DJ sets on Ableton, but it takes more setup and you have to bring your laptop every time.
