We need more people in the Ethereum ecosystem running actual nodes. It pains me to meet someone in this space not running one or not interested.

How about we start a monthly POAP or NFT program for node runners to collect? No monetary value but an opportunity to showcase alignment with the Ethereum project. Is it possible to even link a wallet address to a node? I’m not sure

I like that. I've been thinking about ways to do it without the usual sybil abuses.

Have you found ways to do that? Otherwise we’ll need to ask the node experts. The more people we can get to running a solo node, the more we pace the way for them to solo stake in the future once the requirements of 32 ETH come down, so we might as well get started.

I haven't found a way to do it yet. We can reach out or try to come up with some mechanism ourselves.

Paging @karalabe.eth for advice — how can someone prove in a Sybil-resistant way that they are running a node (not a validator)?

You can’t. Anything over the network can be spoofed.

Thanks! We’re not looking for Sybil-proof, just Sybil-resistant (there are no monetary rewards involved, more of prestige NFTs). I’d have thought people could register their node (e.g., with an IP) and we’d ping their node on a regular basis for liveness, but I guess they could register somebody else’s node with their wallet Maybe the proof needs to exist on the node itself as additional call-home software… not very cypherpunk though 🤔
