4844 is really insane. 

Just minted an NFT on Base for a fee of $0.0009 USD. This is an *order of magnitude* cheaper than Stripe’s “competitive” rate of 3.25% + 20p per transaction.

It’s getting harder to imagine a future where L2s aren’t pushing aside the trad payment processors.

This is a great point

I always thought of L2s in the context of being cheaper than L1s… 

Now, they are becoming cheaper than trad payment processors too.

Completely agree.

To be fair, any biz with volume will have psp costs that are significantly lower than 3.25

But 4844 is competitive and cheaper than even the best rates (i assume) and (importantly) the low rate is accessible to anyone, any volume

Imagine an L3 on top of Base exclusively for merchant payments... imagine!
