Upcoming channel changes

We're *previewing* some upcoming changes so people 1) can understand and 2) provide feedback.

These changes are not launching yet. It will be a couple weeks. There will also be a bunch of communication to channel owners. 

After reading the entire doc, feel free to reply to with feedback or send me a DC. I've tried to answer a lot of common questions in the FAQ.

I like the simplicity and how these features battles spam/bots effectively.

Channels will require more work from moderators, but they also feel more like communities.

I can see inviting people to 'my channels' instead of inviting them to Farcaster.

I'm very curious to see how this new channel format will work in practice. My biggest question is about how the transition of large channels will be. And I'm also curious to see the new uses that will emerge.

it will be slow but sure improve quality over time

You will probably cast in a couple of channels only (those communities you really enjoy) AND your no channel home.

i wonder tho, how to join channels or let moderators know I am interested 🤔

We might need a 'join' action that requires approval from moderator?

Wondering about this as well. If I can’t cast in the channel, how do I *prove* I can contribute meaningful content or make myself visible at all. Worrying a bit it will be even more everybody sitting in their own caves and screaming in the void to even less engagement 🤔

I guess the no channel will become more popular and followers will mean more as they can reply to your no channel feed 

Also, Dan pointed that a frame to request access (mods and members) would be the way to go to request access

You might be right with the no channel getting more important. But is that the idea?

Request in terms of automatism as regards token holdings or similar, not actual request in terms of message the owner/mods…

I guess we will see how this plays out 

I think he suggested a frame can be built to request access - so mods get the requests and add you (as mod or member)

Token access is an additional thing (I think)
