Opinion: $1+ is too much friction for connecting an app like Flink, Quickcast etc.

Onchain boomer building out the world of decentralized networks, financial protocols, and DAOs.

idea: there should be a way to fund a relayer, apps can fund it, purple can fund it etc.

that is not what I am asking, I am asking for a way to easily donate to the address of an app in a permissionless way, without asking dev etc.. so as a result it wont asks users to pay as long as the address has funds. This way Purple and other parties could donate to growth of apps

There is a way, it's already embedded in the protocol. Any app that wants to cover the cost, can. This is what Warpcast practically does: You pay them $X and they connect Warpcast to your account. Before permissionless signups, they covered the cost.

If the actual transaction is much lower, what’s causing the premium? Apple tax?

Cool idea but they would probably be drained by spammers

Apps could do their own Sybil resistance to gate signups, but that re-introduces friction

I’d rather pay $1 than muck about with other logins etc
