There’s a strange moment that happens sometimes in life; here is one : standing at the funeral of someone who hurt you and feeling tears anyway.  Not just for them, but for what could’ve been. 

The grief isn’t just for their death, but for the chance that never came — the apology never said, the healing never done, the version of them you always hoped would show up. 

It’s mourning someone and mourning hope at the same time.
