~5% of the world's population that have an outsized presence on Farcaster seem to find these to be hot takes But these have always been true for most of Asia, and also largely true of Europe and Africa Lots of other not-very-civilized things in Asia though, IMO as an Asian https://warpcast.com/vitalik.eth/0xc6c8afaf

Why do we keep using the term "civilized" to describe adopting European colonial standards? 😩

I think Asia matches my list better than Europe actually. eg. DST abolition is the norm outside the Anglosphere+EU YYYY-MM-DD is standard in East Asia, but not in EU Also, even the non-US West has an annoying habit of often using pounds for body weight. But Europe does win on "ground floor = 0"

I left this post alone out of concern of going political and losing you... but the interaction was replaying after reading some nasty stuff on CryptoTwitter and I wanted to revisit it :) The gregorian calendar's proliferation is the result of colonization and global hegemony. Universal date / time standards did not arise organically, but were spread through violence by a small group of the global minority. The general rule is Europe is center of the world and everyone else is uncivilized. We need new rules.
