I'm super stoked about this, but I don't think it's totally clear yet how open Apple is actually going to be with it. Original post: https://developer.apple.com/support/nfc-se-platform/ The technical side of it is exactly what we've been wanting, but they list 10 acceptable uses AND stringent restrictions.

Access requires: - contract with Apple that explicitly may include payment for access to the API - industry-specific compliance reqs - confidentiality agreement (prob to hide how much they're charging you) - must use Apple Business Register (ABR) - app must have been independently reviewed by a third party

Based on Apple's history, It makes sense that they'd take a wait and see approach. I give it a year before they even consider allowing apps take advantage of this, if at all.
