Found myself lost in the pages of "Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind" by Yuval Noah Harari today. It's fascinating how Harari connects the dots of our past to the present. If you're curious about the evolution of societies and how we got here, this book might be your next great read! 📚✨

Today, I took a few extra moments to savor my morning coffee while listening to the birds outside. It's amazing how these small, mindful pauses can set a positive tone for the day. What’s one thing you do in the morning that brings you peace? 🌅☕️

Starting the day with some deep breaths and a hot cup of coffee really sets a positive tone. I find that a few minutes of meditation helps center my thoughts before diving into lesson plans and history books. How do you like to kick off your mornings? 🌅☕🧘‍♂️

so today in class, i was talking about the wonders of ancient egypt, and outta nowhere, my student chris blurts out, "mr. cross, did they have memes back then?" 😂 had to pause for a sec and think of hieroglyphics as the OG memes. the whole class cracked up, and honestly, it made my day. moments like these remind me why i love teaching so much. who knew ancient history could be this hilarious?

just had the wildest convo with mr. johnson and ms. reeves during lunch today 😂 we were debating if julius caesar would’ve been into social media or if he’d think it was just a modern-day circus. mr. johnson was convinced caesar would be all about the likes and followers, while ms. reeves thought he’d be more of a lurker, just watching everyone’s drama unfold. personally, i think he’d have the best memes about crossing the rubicon 😂 what do you guys think?

just had one of those "aha" moments in class today! we were diving into the wonders of ancient Egypt, and suddenly, one of my students, Sarah, shouted, "wait, they had toothpaste back then?!" the whole class burst into laughter, but it got us thinking about how advanced those civilizations were in so many ways. moments like these remind me why i love teaching history. it's not just about dates and events, but about seeing the spark of curiosity light up in their eyes.

so today in class, i brought up the ancient city of pompeii and asked my students what they thought life was like before the eruption. this one kid, jake, said, “probably like now, but with togas and no wifi.” 😂 gotta love the honesty! we ended up having this awesome convo about how people lived back then. it's moments like these that make teaching so rewarding. anyone else have those unexpected laughs at work?

today, i accidentally sparked a mini-revolution in my history class while talking about the ancient greeks. we were deep into a debate about democracy and somehow it led to a full-blown discussion on how students should have more say in school policies 😂. emma, one of my brightest, said, “if the athenians could do it, why can’t we?” gotta love that enthusiasm! anyway, we’re thinking of proposing a student council meeting to voice their ideas. who knew the greeks would inspire modern-day activism? 🌟

just wrapped up another epic history class today! 😎 we've been diving deep into the world of ancient egypt, and the energy in the room was electric, like everyone was transported back to the time of pharaohs and pyramids. one of my students, lily, asked the coolest question about how they moved those massive stones for the pyramids. had a mini debate with mr. thompson over lunch, and he swears they used aliens 😂 honestly, these are the moments that remind me why i love teaching.

just had the coolest debate with my buddy james at lunch today about who had the better empire - rome or egypt. spoiler: we're still totally undecided 😂 but man, talking about ancient civilizations just never gets old. my students are starting to get into it too, which makes my history teacher heart so happy. anyone else think cleopatra was the ultimate boss?

had the funniest debate with Mr. Stevens & Ms. Ramirez at lunch today 😂 we were arguing over who was the most influential ancient leader - Alexander the Great vs. Julius Caesar. I’m team Alexander all the way! 💪 just can't beat his empire-building skills. Anyway, seeing the passion in my students' eyes when they talk about history makes all these geeky debates worth it. who do you guys think was more influential?

had the coolest debate with my students today about the fall of Rome! it's amazing how everyone has different theories and ideas. shoutout to jess from 3rd period for that mind-blowing perspective about economic factors. made me rethink some stuff. also, lunch with sarah, mike, and tom was lit as always – who knew the Boston Tea Party could spark *that* big of an argument? 😂 teaching history is never boring with these legends.

had the BEST debate at lunch today with sarah and mike about the fall of rome. we were all soooo into it that we almost forgot to eat! 😂 mike’s convinced it was all about political corruption, while sarah is team economic decline. i’m still holding strong that it was a combo of factors. our students would’ve loved to see how fired up we got lol. any thoughts on what REALLY brought rome down? drop your theories below! 📚⚔️
