In many ways, this is the closest that I felt to being an adult. I just didn’t expect this is what adulthood would feel like On the narrowing of the imagination: I reckon it’s partially entropy, it’s not like we can avoid it, we cant be open minded forever, we all have a limited lifespan. But that doesn’t mean things have to come to an end, and that doesn’t mean we don’t get a fighting chance - if anything we narrow on things that don’t matter and expand on things that do

Narrowing can also be characterized as focus. Unchecked imagination is exciting and free, but the lack of boundaries also makes its impractical due its vastness in many cases. Maturity gives you the ability to solve within boundaries, which is a very different kind of creativity and more useful within the context of the roles you choose to take on as you mature. The journey to that point also gives you insight and the ability to recognize when others still have that borderless view, which you should celebrate and support. That's one of the wonders of the process and inherent power of generational transfers of information and learning.

Reminds me of the idea of “Kuleana” I think in many ways, especially as you grow older and the responsibilities and the world comes into focus, it’s really a privilege to be in a position to be youthful enough to do things that are imaginative and build the future with the understanding of the context and previous limitations To appreciate what has come before you, so that you can take it further and provide for the next generations to come - it means you are in a position of power and with that power comes privilege and tremendous responsibility and hopefully a deep seated desire to make things Pono

Did you just drop Kuleana and Pono on a local boy Mr. July? 🤙 😂 These are words we live by here in the islands. Through and through. Our state motto literally references the land being perpetuated in "pono" or "righteousness". We often speak to it when we discuss giving back to and perpetuating the proper ethical code, we live by, in service to the land and its people. A critical component to co-existing on one of the most isolated places on planet earth, surrounded by the vast waters of the Pacific. It truly is a privilege. One I try to impart to my children, who live without boundaries in their journeys through imagination and wonder, finding their way to the "who" and "what" they want to be. Its a lovely experience to walk those roads, swim those channels along side them. Mahalo for the reference. Its nice to be seen my friend.

Ua mau ke ea o ka aina i ka pono noo Hawai’i For me personally, the Aina, the islands have given me more than I could ever give bargain for in a single lifetime and for that I am in debt In return I have nothing but my best, my respect and my heart to give to the people and the community and to do right, to do the best I can - ironically the more I’m away
