I already told you about how I got scammed and up buying a scooter in terrible condition. But by the time Iā€™m talking about now, about two years had passed, and I had learned how to fix my ride myself. Pretty much everything had been replaced, and I could get it up to 120 km/h without much trouble. Still, going long distances on it was kind of scary because I remembered how many times it had broken down before even hitting 100 km. The only comforting thing was that most of the trip was on a toll road, where there was always a support vehicle driving around. They could call a tow truck or bring fuel if needed. So, early in the morning, before sunrise, we hit the road. By the way, the roads in the Dominicana are actually really good. We made it to Santo Domingo pretty fast. But inside the city, motorcycles werenā€™t allowed, so we had to take a detourā€”but everyone knew that already. Another challenge was that the whole group of surfers only spoke Spanish. The only one who knew English was Johnny.
