Looking at screens is way too entertaining. It was less so when screens were smaller, less immersive and more tactile.

In retrospect I think this device was the optimal digital companion. It got whatever you needed done in terms of communication, looked snazzy, and didn’t suck people into a vortex away from really. Best of both worlds.

We need to bring something like this back.

Agreed. Socrates thought the youth were reading too much books and that that is a waste of time, we should just be raw dogging information and debate it. so I generally feel that every era has its own thing that people think is a waste of time

Compared to a motorola razor sure. People are missing years of their life lost in TikTok

I agree that’s it’s next level but there was no iPhone at the time, so at the time the crackberry was next level. Though mainly for professionals as the target market. iPhone has wider reach, was a bigger consumer audience 

I just wanted to reiterate that this was a pretty addictive and big product at the time, sort of a MySpace like precursor to Facebook.

It was addictive to check messages but once you checked them there wasn’t much else to do. iPhone is next level
