Fun fact: do you know why so many sailors wore eye-patches? It's because they would burn their eyes using a sextant looking at the sun ww

I always thought it was because they went back and forth from the dark lower deck to the bright top deck and they wanted to have one eye adjusted to the light level. Must just be an old pirates tail... 🏴☠️

In addition to this theory and the theory of dark adaptation, it is possible that it was a mixture of practical and cultural reasons, including prestige and the boast of rudeness 💜 I have always been passionate about pirate stories. Arrr!

That’s clarifying, I never checked but it was impossible that all that people get hurt at eyes at the same time 😅 Make sense now

Eye damage is a big problem for surfers too but no one wants to wear goofy sun protection hats with me!

How come they don’t burn the other eye after getting eye patches?
