Yeah that’s one of the theories as well, I mean we don’t know for sure as there were prob many reasons (injury etc as well)

I always thought it was because they went back and forth from the dark lower deck to the bright top deck and they wanted to have one eye adjusted to the light level. Must just be an old pirates tail... 🏴‍☠️

In addition to this theory and the theory of dark adaptation, it is possible that it was a mixture of practical and cultural reasons, including prestige and the boast of rudeness 💜 I have always been passionate about pirate stories. Arrr!

That’s clarifying, I never checked but it was impossible that all that people get hurt at eyes at the same time 😅

How come they don’t burn the other eye after getting eye patches?
