reading Chip War now its striking how chips have been at the center of geopolitics since the beginning US v Russia US v Japan US v China US has faded in and out of manufacturing dominance in different eras but theres always been a strong industry push for govt support

like they are both from tainan - had about 100k people in 1960 another crazy this is how many countries were in the foundry mix taiwan's recipe: hierarchical work culture, morris chang as a maniac, lack of competing industries in tech, steady investment, backing from US, and secluded location on western taiwan
