The most advanced user interface for AR /XR headsets aren’t made by a Silicon Valley tech company. They are the F-35 HMDS (helmet mounted display system) they cost almost $500K and have 360 view of the entire aircraft. Each helmet is custom fitted for the pilot, with sensors, display etc It is an engineering marvel

“connected to six infrared cameras located around the aircraft, it provides a 360 view and situational awareness. If the pilot looks around in certain conditions, they don’t see the cockpit or their legs. All they see are their surrounding terrain, with flight critical & mission data projected inside the helmet.”

requirements include: wide field of view binocular display, integrated night vision (mentioned in the video), extremely complex high tolerance optics, and weight/center of gravity requirements designed to enhance survivability in case of ejection - withstand windblast during very high speed ejection and remain intact

I love the amount of effort put into the helmet and the promo video looks like a 90's infomercial for car parts meets 2000's dvd menu
