there are 100 days until 2025 and new crypto projects are still using Discord to build and manage their community

fwiw if they were on discord already its kinda hard to convince a whole system of mods, users, roles etc to migrate to something new - esp if that involves users having to pay e.g. a $5 signup fee. i do think something like FC for public + TG for private is a superior community management stack if you're starting from scratch. but i get why a project wouldn't move off discord if its doing fine there rn

there’s a reason i said *new* crypto projects :) also would argue that the $5 signup fee is more conducive to building a community (more skin in the game, deters airdroppers slightly, and could be reimbursed by the project)

90% of projects are not happy with their discords. If they pay a mod to talk to the 5 same users for 6 months, they can make that mod manage a farcaster channel too &or switch and run it professionally to finally onboard new people to the community.

the 5$ are a big issue though - real switching cost. At this point many have twitter, telegram, discord &or slack for internal stuff. they don't want to have an additional system aside those. replacing discord is a good path imo.
