Interesting that Netflix keeps pushing for more live TV events. Makes sense since It's the main thing they were lacking and both Peacock and Amazon Prime have been doing it.

Cheaper and faster to produce and drives a sense of urgency in the audience to engage. Netflix killed off shared cultural moments with their binge model, eroding to an extent their shows cultural impact. The pivot to live and sports is a way to reclaim this.

Diving a bit deeper YouTube is now the most used app on smartTVs, Netflix can’t compete on speed as a curated content platform and needs to find new leverage to grow subscriptions. Interestingly value of sports teams and leagues will be the real winner of this new media war
