IMO the most interesting things to look at right now in this space are the things that would still be relevant to people even if you removed the word “crypto” from the description. Do a mental exercise to understand how self-referential something is: can it fix any problems other than the problems it itself created in the first place?

Let’s be honest: crypto doesn’t need privacy. It doesn’t need to be this “parallel” system. It can simply be an extension of tradfi, just with higher APRs. Or even better, it can be a closed-loop ecosystem, like an adult arcade. The cypherpunks were wrong. JK, April Fool’s!

“Do you tell people you work in crypto?” Well, I definitely don’t lead with it. Most of crypto, at least in the eyes of the mainstream (and in many cases rightfully so), is an embarrassment. Instead, I tell them how the technology I’m working on can fix their real problems. Then, if they ask how, I explain the crypto component. Then they like crypto.
